RSW airport traffic increases in February
During February, 790,124 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 4.6 percent compared to February 2010. The traffic leader in February was Delta with 171,166 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were AirTran (131,406), JetBlue (91,899), Southwest (84,633) and US Airways (79,175).
Air Berlin to increase flights to RSW
Air Berlin is increasing service between RSW and Düsseldorf (DUS), Germany for the busy summer travel season. Germany’s second largest airline will offer four weekly flights to RSW effective July 25 through Sept. 12. Flights are operated on an A330 aircraft and the new Monday service will complement flights currently flown on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. For more information, visit www.airberlin.com.
Inaugural nonstop flights to Denmark to begin in June
Nonstop service between RSW and Aalborg, Denmark will begin on June 21 and run for five weeks ending on July 19. The flights will be operated once a week on Tuesday by the Scandinavian tour operator, Comefly, between Fort Myers and Aalborg. This will be the first time RSW has offered nonstop service to Scandinavia and will be the only nonstop flight between Aalborg and the United States. The Denmark service will be provided by Monarch Airlines utilizing an A330 aircraft with a two-class configuration of 358 seats. Monarch is one of the United Kingdom’s major providers of low-cost scheduled flights, but also is a key supplier of aircraft and seats to the tour operating industry.
