The Conservancy of Southwest Florida recently honored their volunteers at a “Volunteer Appreciation” celebration at the Naples Hilton. More than 215 volunteers and their guests attended the event where Award Certificates were presented to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Volunteer Connection Board and Volunteer Coordinators for the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year. Awards were given for service year milestones of 5, 10 and 20 years, and for service hour milestones ranging from 100 to 7,000 hours.

A special “Secretary Emeritus” award was presented to Sally Masters for her thirteen years of dedicated service as the first secretary on the Conservancy of Southwest Florida Volunteer Connection Board.

Conservancy President and CEO Andrew McElwaine remarked, “The Conservancy of Southwest Florida is very blessed to have such a passionate and dedicated group of volunteers. We rely on them to run special events, the daily operations of the Conservancy Nature Center and Nature Store, Upscale Resale shop, field trips, the Wildlife Clinic and so much more.”

Conservancy Volunteer and Intern Manager JoAnn Johansen presented an $835,453 “check” to Conservancy President Andrew McElwaine representing the annual monetary value of volunteers to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.
