Sheriff’s Office teams with Waste Pro to fight crime

1 min read

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Waste Pro are teaming up to put 185 extra sets of eyes and ears on Lee County streets. The eyes and ears belong to Waste Pro employees who have received volunteer training to recognize and report situations that appear suspicious.

“They know what to look for, what to tell us,” says Captain Scott Ciresi, commander of Echo District. “Pertinent information we can use right away to solve a crime, or better yet, stop a crime in its tracks.”

“Our employees are working in the same neighborhoods 52 weeks a year,” says Keith Banasiak, Regional Vice President for Waste Pro. “They get to know the habits of neighborhoods which makes it easier to know when something isn’t right.”

Waste Pro trucks boast the partnership, equipped with placards that read, “Waste Pro on Patrol – We report all suspicious persons and activities to local law enforcement.”

Captain Ciresi says the partnership is a perfect example of law enforcement and business combining efforts to fight crime, adding, “We want criminals always looking over their shoulder, never sure who may be watching.”
