April teatimes scheduled at the Burroughs Home
Two “teatimes” have been scheduled at the Burroughs Home on the banks of the Caloosahatchee in the River District of Fort Myers during April. The programs are presented by Beach resident Laurie Nienhaus.
“Remembering Miss Millay” is a presentation for the passionate among us who want to learn about the life and loves of Edna St. Vincent Millay, the icon of the 20s jazz babies and the first woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for poetry. Interspersed throughout the presentation are dramatic readings of her poetry. This “tea” will be presented on Tuesday, April 5, beginning at 1 p.m. The cost is $25.
On Tuesday, April 19, Ms. Nienhaus will present “The Lavender Tea,” also beginning at 1 p.m. Lavender is among the most versatile of herbs, possessing a remarkable array of uses as well as a fascinating history. You can even cook with it! The cost is $28.
The Burroughs Home is one of the premier historic homes of Fort Myers. It is the home of the Uncommon Friends Foundation. Reservations are required for each of the teas and may be made by calling 337-0706 or emailing Christine@BurroughsHome.com. Supplies for the various teas will be available for purchase following each presentation.
The Uncommon Friends Foundation, established in 1993, is a character education foundation whose mission is to instill ethics, moral values and a sense of purpose in tomorrow’s leaders.
