Town sets 2011 Beach Leadership Conference
The Town of Fort Myers Beach is holding the second annual Beach Leadership conference on May 11, 14, 18 and 20. Hosted by the Community Resources Advisory Board, this free conference will inform the Town’s residents of Beach government processes and community resources. Conference participants will benefit from presentations by noted speakers as well as site visits. Participation is limited to the first 35 beach residents and/or property owners to register.

The 2011 Beach Leadership Program is designed to:
– Inform Town residents and property owners on the processes of government;
– Promote communication with elected officials and public servants;
– Encourage civic involvement and volunteerism.
The benefits of participation in the 2011 Beach Leadership Program include:
– Develop a better understanding of the Town’s government through exposure to governmental functions, services, activities and issues;
– Gain knowledge of other taxing authorities that provide services to the residents of the beach such as the library, public school, parks and preserves, sheriff and fire departments;
– Create a cadre of informed citizens who will be better prepared to become involved in community activities;
– Interact with the Town’s elected officials and department heads.
