34 home permits issued in December in county

During January, contractors pulled permits to build 34 single-family houses collectively valued at $6.5 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 19 permits issued in December and 34 issued in January 2010, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

Permits were issued for eight multi-family units, compared to eight in December and 16 in January 2010.

Fifteen commercial permits collectively valued at $5.4 million were issued in January 2011. That value compares to $1.4 million in December. There were no new commercial buildings permitted in January 2010.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.
