Beach resident among elected HOPE officers
HOPE Clubhouse has recently elected its new officers and directors for the year 2011. Officers elected include Board Chair Susan Tew of The Law Offices of Michael F. Tew, P.L.; Vice Chair Omar Rieche, M.D., board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist; Secretary Judith Gartner,of Naples, retired attorney and former president of the International Center for Clubhouse Development; and Treasurer Keith Alexander of Hughes, Snell & Co., P.A., CPAs.
Directors elected include Fort Myers Beach resident Kathryne King, businesswoman and mental health advocate; William Madaus, Ed.D.,of Naples, retired CEO of a MA mental health agency and member of the International Center for Clubhouse Development; Teresa Watkins-Brown, City of Fort Myers Council member; John Megara, founding clubhouse member of HOPE Clubhouse; Andrea Prather, community leader; Tehjan Prendiville, RN, CEO of JBH Behavioral Health Systems LLC; Shirley Ferrell, founding clubhouse member of HOPE Clubhouse; Dan McGahey, principal with Gora/McGahey Architects; and Joyce Miller, Charlotte County community leader and mental health advocate.
HOPE Clubhouse is a model of rehabilitation for people living with severe mental illness. HOPE Clubhouse provides a caring environment for members to engage in meaningful work while developing positive relationships with other members and staff. Through a Transitional Employment Program, HOPE Clubhouse places members in part time jobs to help them reintegrate into the working community. HOPE Clubhouse also offers members access to educational opportunities, friendships, support and housing alternatives.
