Free document destruction today
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and, as a thank-you to the community for supporting people with disabilities, Goodwill Secure Shred is offering free document destruction on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., Goodwill Secure Shred will accept sensitive documents and paper items for complimentary shredding. The free shredding event will be held at Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida’s North Fort Myers facility (4940 Bayline Drive).
Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida created its Secure Shred document destruction business in 2007 in order to provide jobs for local individuals with severe disabilities while also providing a valuable service to the community. Nationwide, Goodwill Industries is the largest non-profit provider of employment services for people with disabilities.
Goodwill’s Secure Shred document destruction division securely processes sensitive documents and other materials for numerous area businesses and agencies. All paper shredded by Goodwill Secure Shred is pulped and then recycled into paper products.No paper is ever sent to the landfill.
Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. provides programs and services to help people with disabilities and other disadvantages to overcome their barriers to employment and independence. Supported programs include employment services, accessible housing, youth mentoring, transportation assistance, and the L.I.F.E. Academy Charter School for students with developmental disabilities.
