The Florida Gulf Coast University Florida Institute of Government will be holding”Code Enforcement Certification Training, Level I” course from8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1 to Friday, Nov. 5. The test is on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to noon.at the Atrium Executive Center, 8695 College Parkway, Suite 1181.Registration deadline is Oct. 22.

Participants learn the fundamentals of code enforcement. Code enforcement certification requires being in attendance at all of the training sessions and passing an exam for each level. After becoming certified, participants are required to complete 16 hours of approved continuing education courses within a two-year period in order to maintain certification. The majority of the professional development programs offered by the Florida Institute of Government qualify in meeting their continuing education needs. Most code enforcement officers find they benefit from belonging to the Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE).

The cost is $480 for FACE members; $600 for non-members.
