Local job fair attracts 27 business attendants so far

The number of firms seeking employees at Estero United Methodist Church continues to grow, with 27 now on board for the Sept. 4 job fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Titled “Hands Full of Hope,” the church’s job fair is offering positions ranging from entry level to professional, full-time and part-time. Everyone is invited to attend. There is no admission charge, and there’s free parking.
The church is located on Tamiami Trail (Route 41) and Broadway Avenue, just north of Corkscrew Road at 8088 Lords Way, Estero.
A list of some of the companies attending will be Alliance Financial Group, AmState Advantage Realty, Avon, Beasley Broadcasting, Borders, Career Center of Southwest Florida, Chick-fil-A, Costco, Cracker Barrel, Florida Highway Patrol, Hair Cuttery, Home Instead Senior Care, J.C. Penney, Lee County Elections Center, Lowe’s, MaidPro, Mary Kay, PartyLite, National Guard, Primerica, Sears Edison Mall, Securitas, Source Interlink, State Farm, Tee Off Temps, Inc., TLT Residential Cleaning and Visiting Home Companions.
More than 50 volunteers from the church have been at work for several weeks planning the event. They’ll be on hand that Saturday of Labor Day weekend to oversee an anticipated large turnout of job seekers due to the local 15 percent unemployment rate.
Fair attendees will have an opportunity to register for free resume writing classes to be given in the near future. There will also be an onsite team from the Edison State College School of Nursing, who will conduct free blood pressure tests. And the Elections Office of Lee County will be on hand to provide onsite Voter Registration services.
