Celebrating one year as new owner of the Shamrock Irish Pub, Mike Hotz plans to hold an anniversary party Saturday, Aug. 21, from noon to 7 p.m. at the 2201 Estero Blvd. location.

“It feels great, being open one year and doing well, especially with this economy,” Mike said. “We’ve done very well with the local business it’s really helped a lot and we’re so thankful for their business. This party is to celebrate that.”

About one year ago, Mike took over the pub and gave it a complete overhaul and renovation, inside and out, bringing one of the first watering holes on Fort Myers Beach up and into the 20th century.

“We gave the place a complete overhaul,” he said. “New paint, ceramic tile, furniture, a new bar top. We repainted the outside and looking to cover up ‘Lake Shamrock’ in the parking lot very soon.”

Another recent renovation includes the removal of the kitchen and addition of the gaming area, complete with dart board and other arcade games.

During Saturday’s anniversary party, Mike plans to host a complete carnival-style celebration, complete with dunk tank (guess who may star as the “target”), beer troughs, drink specials (all domestics $2 all day that day), brauts, hot dogs and other munchies, and T-Bone and The Shamrockers will be jammin’ from 2 to 5 p.m.

“It’s a carnival-type of venue, and there’s no charge to come and celebrate with us,” Mike said. “The local base has been so very supportive. Thanks to every one of you.”
