Lee VCB boasts increased visitation
The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel hosted 440,101 visitors who spent $314 million during the month of February 2010, according to a Davidson Peterson Associates report last week to the Lee County Tourist Development Council. Total visitation was up 5.3 percent from February 2009; the number of visitors staying in paid accommodations was up 13.2 percent from a year ago. Overall occupancy also was up slightly (0.8 percent) and room nights sold was up 11.7 percent over the same time period last year.

In transportation news, 755,095 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers during February 2010, a decrease of 6.8 percent compared to February 2009. The traffic leader in February was Delta with 177,281 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. For more information, contact Victoria B.
