Got some Big Game: New sports bar and grill hosts grand opening party all weekend
Stationed within the old Key West Express building next door to Parrot Key, and now in business for the last several weeks, Big Game Bar and Grill offers patrons a one-stop shop for sports, food, fun and everything in between.
To celebrate, the sports bar is holding an all-weekend grand opening party, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23 to 24, with happy hour offered all day (noon to midnight $1 drafts, $1.50 22-ounce beers). 96K-Rock will broadcast a live remote Friday, Jan. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m., and 770AM ESPN Radio will broadcast from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24.
“This is a relaxed spot where families can come, have fun and have some really good food at really good prices,” said Brad Lewis, managing partner of Big Game. “We have excellent food especially our homemade pizza.”
The entire building has been gutted and renovated inside and out from fresh paint and flooring to a shiny stainless steel kitchen and numerous LCD TVs, including two 60-inchers.
“We tried to strategically place the TVs so you have a good spot from wherever you are,” Brad said.
Head chef John Venuto and his staff is proud to offer guests a menu chock-full of fresh seafood and other great items, from a raw bar and great apps to gourmet hot dogs, fresh burgers, wings, sandwiches, wraps, salads, entrees and, of course, pizza.
Enjoy eating well into the night, with the kitchen taking final orders at midnight. That’s perfect for finishing up that extra-long game of pool (you know how that goes sometimes) or watching your fave team go into double overtime.
“We’re all about sports here,” Brad said. “We’re going to play anything from baseball, football, UFC, basketball, you name it.”
Brad’s eager to make Big Game your “sports central,” building a full-size beach volleyball court beside the sports bar that’ll host regular tourneys and game play, along with cornhole, dart leagues, fight nights, bike nights, horseshoes, billiards and more.
“We want you to feel like whatever game you want to watch or play, it’s here for you,” Brad said.
The indoor arcade is great for the kids or the young at heart, and adults can indulge in the beer and wine bar, which should be a full liquor bar very soon.
“We should have a full liquor license by March,” Brad eagerly said.
Indoor and outdoor dining is available, and the ample dockage space in the bay behind the building is perfect for all the avid boaters out there.
Enjoy happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to midnight Monday to Saturday, with $1 drafts and $1.50 22-ounce beers, and live music takes place Saturday nights, starting at 9 p.m.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 3 p.m. to midnight; Saturday and Sunday, noon to midnight, and you better believe these guys are having an all-day Superbowl bash. Stay tuned to the Beach Bulletin for further details as they become known.
