Ryan Brown, Unisex’s licensed esthetician, has been in the field of skin care and make-up for eight years. He specializes in anti-aging and anti-acne treatments, and plans to offer spray tanning shortly.

Serving the community of Fort Myers Beach and its surrounding areas for seven years, local master colorist and master barber Patricia Ann, manager of the all-new Unisex European Hair, Skin, Nails and Spirit, has been in the salon and beauty business all her life.

“I’ve owned salons for 30 years,” she said. “This is my third salon in Fort Myers, and I’m really proud of it.”

Previously stationed in the Fort Myers Beach Plaza on San Carlos Boulevard, Patricia Ann’s new facility is just a couple miles down the road, in the Kelly Crossing plaza across from Gavin’s Ace Hardware (16120 San Carlos Blvd. Suite 7).

“I moved to this location from all the referrals we simply had to expand,” she said. “We’re a local’s salon.”

Now with an expansive shop, Patricia Ann and her hand-selected staff of hair and body experts can offer a one-stop bath and beauty shopping experience for the mind, body and spirit.

Aside from offering a wide range of hair services, Unisex European Hair also offers beauty and skin care services, ear-piercing, nail services, waxing services, hand-made semi-precious custom jewelry and tarot readings.

“We offer 28-plus services. We’re a family full-service salon, catering to children, moms and dads, and, of course, grandmas and grandpas, too,” Patricia Ann said.

Hair services

As far as hair goes, Unisex can basically do anything you ask for from perms, cuts, colors and styling to color-correcting braiding, dreading, corn rows and plat braids.

“We also specialize in military cuts and flat tops,” Patricia Ann said. (Keep reading to see the salon’s special offer to all people in uniform).

The lifelong beautician studied in Boston, London, New York and Canada.

“There’s a motto we live by here,” she said. “Trust your hairstylist. We offer deep discounts quality work that’s inexpensive.”

Beauty and skin care

Ryan Brown, Unisex’s professional esthetician, has been licensed for eight years, starting in fashion design in Miami.

“I do facials, waxing, skin peels, make-up and spray-tanning,” he said. “I also feature high-frequency skin therapy, acne treatment and anti-aging remedies.”

The fashion guru is also proud to introduce his latest service glycolic peels.

“It’s a great rejuvenating skin therapy,” he said.

Tarot readings

Completing the mind, body and spirit touch to Unisex European Salon, Jay Love has been into reading the Tarot for sometime, a talent he’s had all his life but has only done it professionally for about a year.

“I’m a spiritual reader,” he said. “I help people answer life’s questions.”

Jay speaks of how he got into reading the Tarot.

“Reading cards was a way to meditate myself,” he said. “I started doing it for friends and family, and then people started making appointments. I’ve been told I’m very accurate.”

His calming presence adds to the appeal, slowly burning sage leaves to absorb bad energy, laying down special crystals, chiming auspicious chimes and holding a quiet meditation prior to beginning the reading.

“The meditation process is a way of allowing the subconscious to come through, which then directs the cards’ patterns. It’s not magic. It’s not a trick or a game,” he said. “The most rewarding part of what I do is helping people see themselves helping them see their way through situations. That’s really the most rewarding thing.”

Custom jewelry

Patricia Ann is not just a master barber and master colorist. She’s also a talented jewelry maker, offering a colorful collection of semi-precious stones in available in all sizes and price ranges.

“It’s totally custom jewelry,” she said. “We take orders.”

Choose from garnet, jade, red quartz, pink quartz, adventurine, blue agate, snowflake crystals, pearls, rhinestones, jasper, gold and silver accents, smokey quartz, mother of pearl and more for your earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or any other form of jewelry request.

Patricia Ann and her Unisex European Salon are always sure to involve themselves within the community. They were recently set up at Fort Myers Beach’s first annual Pumpkin Fest and proudly support MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and Fingerprint That Child, often hosting a cut-a-thon for the cause.

The salon is also a sponsor for the Fort Myers Beach Miracles girls’ softball team, holding fun events for the girls every now and then as well.
