After years of serving up wild entertainment and really cold brews, the Shamrock Irish Pub will sadly be closing its doors to Fort Myers Beach this Sunday.
“We’re having a huge blowout party Saturday, as the Shamrock says goodbye,” said Clark Youngs, owner of the longtime FMB watering hole.
During the party Saturday, May 23, enjoy free food (like corned beef and cabbage or reuben sandwiches), raffles and prizes, live music from Steve “the Lucky Dog” Lutke and Still Rehearsing, along with some really cheap beer and wine that should make anyone’s Saturday a mellow one.
“Up to closing Sunday, we’re having $2.50 Heinekens, $2.50 16-ounce Guinness, $2.50 Rolling Rocks, $2 16-ounce Pabst Blue Ribbons, $1.50 drafts, and way more,” Clark said. “It doesn’t get cheaper than what we’ve got going on here.”
Although Clark’s saddened to hear the Shamrock will be no more, he’s eager to open up elsewhere along the Fort Myers Beach gulf.
“We’ve got some ideas and are hoping to open up somewhere else on Fort Myers Beach,” Clark said. “We’re already looking at a couple different spots.”
It’s understandable why the Shamrock has such an influence on Clark. After all, that’s where he and his now-wife, Tabitha, met.
“I don’t know what they’re gonna do to the bar, tear it down maybe. It’s just sad,” Clark said.
At the end of the party, remaining items in the pub will be sold wholesale.
