LCSO arrests man after sexual assault of 14-year-old girl
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has a man who assaulted a young girl behind bars.
On July 31, deputies responded to Plaka Restaurant in Times Square for sexual battery on a 14-year-old girl.
Shortly after, deputies located the suspect, Joel Rodriguez, 19, of Fort Myers, and arrested him at approximately 10:21 p.m.
Rodriguez had interacted with the girl at the restaurant, then pulled her into the men’s bathroom and sexually assaulted her.
He was charged with sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation. He’s currently in custody with a bond amount of $100,000. His trial date is set for Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 8:30 a.m.
“There will be zero tolerance for crimes against our county’s most vulnerable, our children and seniors,” stated Undersheriff Carmine Marceno. “The suspect was located quickly and taken into custody, where he belongs.”
