Chamber launches “Tip the Bill” challenge
In an effort to help the bartenders and waitstaff at local establishments, the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce is launching a community challenge to #tipthebill.
The idea is to give the waitstaff or bartender a little more than the usual 20 percent.
Either tip the same amount as your bill total, if you’re able, said Jacki Liszak, Chamber President, and if that’s not feasible, leave a larger-than-average tip, she added.
So, if your bill was $30, try to tip $30. If you can’t, maybe try $15.
The idea is to do something positive for those who are dependent on tips as part of their income while the local economy is down, Liszak said.
The Chamber is encouraging those who participate to write “#tipthebillFMBCC” on their receipt and post a photo, along with the hashtag, on social media to spread awareness of the idea.
