San Carlos Island community planning meeting set for Feb. 10
San Carlos Islanders will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on the future of their community.
As part of the overall Lee Plan update. Lee County is updating community plans within the comprehensive plan.
San Carlos Island will be one of the first under community review in 2018.
County staff will hold a visioning workshop for residents and businesses on San Carlos Island Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m.to about noon. The workshop will be held at AMI Kids Southwest Florida, 1190 Main St..
The Lee Plan update seeks to look into the county’s future to 2040, according to a press release from the county. The community planning goals will also look far into the future of the county’s unincorporated communities.
Staff will provide an overview of information about the Lee Plan, the community plan and the visioning effort. Then, staff will hold “guided” group discussions to identify the island’s challenges and opportunities.
According to the release, the purpose of the community plan is to address specific conditions unique to a defined area of the county – physical, architectural, historical, environmental or economic characteristics that set the community apart from elsewhere in the county.
The community plan will go through normal process: it will be heard by public hearing at the Local Planning Agency and by two public hearings before the Lee County Commissioners.
