Judith Volez of Fort Myers auctioned off her art piece, “Bubbles by the Sea,” created with crayons. She creates children's books featuring local areas and native species.

More than 100 items lined the tables at Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Cafe, waiting for someone to bet.

The Ostego Bay Foundation held its annual old-fashioned fish fry and silent fundraiser on Saturday. More than 100 items were donated by local businesses and residents to be auctioned off, and a portion of the funds from the fish fry meals was donated to the foundation as part of the fundraiser.

Foundation President Joanne Semmer said the final numbers are still being tallied, but the organization will break $4,000 raised. The funds will help pay for scholarships to the foundation’s summer camps.

“That’s awesome for us,” Semmer said. “It took a lot of hard work and volunteer hours, and the generosity of our other community partners. It was wonderful.”
