Fort Myers Beach Art Association announces shows, classes and awards
The spring juried art show of the Fort Myers Beach Art Association opens Feb. 13 through March 23 at the gallery at 3030 Shell Mound Blvd, Fort Myers Beach. The gallery will announce the award winners at the reception scheduled for Feb. 19 beginning with a gallery talk at 1 p.m. by Heidi Fausel. The Fish House Restaurant, the event sponsor, will provide refreshments at 2:15 p.m. Admission to the show is free and visitors are welcome. This exhibit will be available for viewing and sale until March 23.
Jan Sitts, who is offering a workshop at the gallery and judge of the show, will also offer a demonstration at the gallery on Sunday, Feb. 12 from 4 p.m. Until 6 p.m. The fee for the demo is $10.
The honors include several awards: First, the Lucy B. Campbell Award, Second, Third, the Lee Ackert Memorial FMBAA Member Award for Exceptional Use of Color, Florida Watercolor Society (Limited to water media used in an aqueous manner), Merit (2) and Honorable Mentions (2).
Studio 2 will feature a show containing work from the various painting groups who meet at the gallery and paint out on a regular basis. This show will be available to view from Feb.. 11 through Feb. 23.
Congratulations are in order for our Experimentalists’ leader, Michele Barron Buelow, for receiving the President’s Award from the Winners’ Circle Show of the Art Council of Southwest Florida.
