Uniforms were encouraged at Fish-Tale Marina’s community day.

That’s because the event, held Saturday, Aug. 13, was dedicated to honoring local law enforcement and first responders.

Members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Fort Myers Beach Fire and Rescue District set up booths with information and games for the family-friendly event.

The fire department also brought in a children’s safety trailer, which teaches children how to handle a fire by simulating a fire and showing them how to escape out the window and call 911. The trailer is owned by Lee County Fire Marshalls and Inspectors Association, which purchased the unit in a joint effort between all the districts in Lee County.
