Council candidates express their views
Campaign signs are popping up around town and everyone here seems to hail from Indiana.
It must mean March is fast approaching, and with that there’s often a local election.
This year is one of those, and much is at stake with not only a 21-question charter referendum in play but two council seats up for grabs.
“It’s an exciting and challenging time in Fort Myers Beach and the selection is extremely important,” said Mayor Anita Cereceda, whose seat is not up for re-election until 2017. “It’s also great that we have such an array of distinct and different candidates with varying viewpoints.”
That group numbers seven and it includes an incumbent, a former mayor and a former town manager. Mixed in are newcomers, a few who have held spots on local committees.
The candidates are Dan Andre, Dennis Boback, Bruce Butcher, Jack Green, Tracey Gore, Suzanne Katt and Ber Stevenson. Stevenson qualified as a write-in candidate only, so his name will not appear on the ballot but a spot will be available for his name to be printed.
