Boot Kickin’ offers homemade food, stunning views

Kay Hayden has worked in the restaurant business for 20-plus years, but Boot Kickin’ Sports Bar and Grill is her first foray into ownership.
“I learned a lot, both good and bad, and it’s the bad that has pushed me into doing something good,” said the resident of North Fort Myers, who opened the doors Dec. 15. “Unlike many places, everything here is going to be made from scratch. No exceptions. We’re talking down-home American food.”
Her favorites are her fried pork sandwich, mozzarella sticks and Alfredo sauce.
Hayden also loves the locale’s view of Hurricane Pass. The long deck holds seating for 140 – almost as many as the number inside, which is 150.
“You can get a great water view here without having to worry about the traffic of going to the beach,” she said. “We’re before the stop lights and the bridge, so access is easy.”
The motif gives many salutes to those who serve, including blowing flags on the deck representing military personnel, firefighters and police.
“It’s a tribute to those who take care of us,” Hayden said.
The location formerly housed the Dock of the Bay, and before that the Naughty Turtle.
“This location has a lot of potential,” Hayden said. “It just needs someone to do it right.”
