Summer campers receive boat trip
Beach Elementary School students, who are attending summer camp, were provided a field trip by Al and Kathy Durrett from Fish Tale Marina recently.
The Durretts have been busy educating children from different elementary schools as well as summer camp crews.
Six students took a ride on a pontoon boat with Corporal George Schwing and Deputy Anita Santos of the Lee County Sheriff’s Department and Captain Brad Brown of Fish Tale Marina. They were Jeet Bhagu, Alex Walke, Madison Alward, Tori Braugh, Nicholas Damms, Bianca Rodriguez
“It was absolutely wonderful,” said Durrett. “The Sheriff’s Department helped out this time. They went out for about an hour and a half, then did some classroom work here on the deck and got to feed the snook.”
The Ostego Bay Foundation’s summer school class also had 20 kids visit the marina.
“It was an educational day,” said Durrett. “I had about 50-60 kids here today. “It’s so much fun to educate these kids about Estero Bay. It’s real important.”
