Wellness screening for people could also benefit pets in need

2 min read

Pets will have a chance to benefit when people take advantage of a free community stress and wellness screening opportunity. On June 20, the Foundation for Wellness Professionals will be at Lee County Domestic Animal Services from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. conducting the screenings. The service is free but those interested may make a voluntary donation to the Animal Care Trust Fund to benefit homeless and disadvantage pets in Lee County.

The testing, which consists of an adrenal gland function blood pressure test, will be performed by Chad R. Luce, D.C. and Megan M. Postlewate, R.N. If you are experiencing headaches, fatigue, loss of sleep, irritability, mood swings, hormone issues, or digestive problems, the screening can determine if these symptoms may be related to stress.

Donations to the Animal Care Trust Fund are appreciated. All donations made to the Animal Care Trust Fund are restricted for the benefit of homeless, ill and injured pets, or to assist disadvantaged pet owners in Lee County. All donations are tax deductible in accordance with Internal Revenue Code Section 170-c (1).

While visitors are at the shelter for their screening they are encouraged to ease their stress by adopting a new pet. The health benefits of interactions with pets are well documented and there is no better time than June to take advantage of Animal Services’ Cat Adoption Special. Throughout June all cats are $50 off the regular adoption fee. This means kittens are only $25 and adult cats are free!
