Resident says “Re -Nourishment Not Viable”

1 min read

To the editor:

The Re-Nourishment project manager announced last week that it is not viable unless there are “rapid and significant changes ” in renourishment easement signings.

An analysis of the May 29 easement tally shows another steep drop in signed easement numbers. Private property owners, both businesses and residents, now represent just 28 percent of the total easements requested.

This steep drop has happened despite published information by the Town of Fort Myers Beach and visits to the property owners by town and county staff and town council people.Town also said last week that they had called all people who rescinded.

Lee County data shows five large frontal area properties that had signed easements and were visited by Town Staff to retain those important easements. Instead four of the five properties signed rescind letters.

Appropriately, FMB Mayor Larry Kiker recently said that the people would decide renourishment. That seems fair.

Now with just 28 percent of total requested easements signed by private property owners , does it not seem like the PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED?
