“Old” Surf Club gets new name

According to a report by The Fort Myers Beach Civic Association, the name of the old Surf Club bar will be The Mermaid Lounge and Liquors.

The Van Selow ownership group hope their new establishment will be open by the end of June or early July.

The Beached Whale building used to be called The Mermaid Club, built in 1949.

Bruce Cermak is in the process of moving The Surf Club to the former Waffle House building. Reports say the business should be open by the end of the month as well or before the FMB Civic Association’s Fourth of July parade.
