2 min read

Theresa Schober, director of the Mound House on Fort Myers Beach will be the guest speaker at the American Business Women’s Association Scholarship Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at DiamondHead Resort.

The event will honor 2009 scholarship recipients and honor the ABWA members and friends whose commitment to fellowship and fun has led to a legacy of scholarship support.

Schober is well known for her dedication to archaeological research in Southwest Florida for the past eleven years. Currently she is the Director of Cultural Resources for the Town of Fort Myers Beach where she is heading efforts to develop an archaeological and historical museum at the Mound House. She holds a M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a Ph. D. candidate at the University of Florida.

Schober will share her insights into seeing what is possible in the midst of numerous challenges.

The Fort Myers Beach Chapter of ABWA is in its 14th year and has given over 50 scholarships totaling over $40,000 to qualifying women (and more recently men). These scholarships have eased the burden of tuition and book costs for many learners who have limited funds available.

This year’s scholarship recipients are: Lakisha Rice; Sara Rios; Gina-Marie Schreiber; Erica Schury; Dane Woodard; and Hunter Woodard.

Dinner price: $20.00. Please call Joanne Bleimeyer at 463-6696 for reservations (by Friday, June 5th).
