Another military family stays at Silver Sands
The Silver Sands Villas at 1207 Estero Blvd. recently received an award from the Lee County Visitors & Convention Bureau for always taking care of military personnel.
Sgt. Kirt Orlando and his family, a husband/wife/son are all on active duty but will be in the Fort Myers Beach are from June 10 through June 20. They are staying at the Silver Sands at the beginning of their stay.
“I just wanted to touch base with you before I leave,” Sgt. Orlando said a few days ago. “My 19 year old son that also is in the Army will be joining us on our vacation. I glad that he is going to make the trip with us. We just found out that he will be deploying to Afghanistan in August so this will be a great time to spend some time with him before he leaves.
“He is in ROTC at the college that he is attending. He must have volunteered to go because he has the ” college first ” in his contract. The Army can’t deploy him in his first 2 years of college unless he volunteers to go. So I guess he volunteered.
Sgt Orlando then gave his families’ itinerary.
10 June
Arriving Fort Myers after noon sometime and staying at the Silver Sands in Ft
Myers Beach.
11 June
Leaving Ft Myers and going to Key West on the Key West Express. Spending the night in Key West and returning the next day. My son just got dive certified at college and I thought that Key West would be a good trip for him.
12 June
Returning from Key West on the Key West Express (late) and staying at the
Silver Sands.
13 June
Leaving Ft Myers and going to North Captiva on the Island Girl.
I have reservations at 1 p.m. but I’m going to call them today and see if they can move it back to a later time.
13 June thru 20 June
We will be on North Captiva and staying at Manatee Haven
