Postmasters have record-breaking food drive
Lee County Postmasters are pleased to announce that a record-breaking 405,960 pounds of food items were collected on Saturday during the letter carrier food drive, the largest one day food drive in the nation.
This shatters the previous record of 371,000 pounds in 2008.
Lee county Postmasters and letter carriers would like to thank the community volunteers who helped to collect food on mail routes where carriers use their private vehicles and those who helped to unload and sort the food. All food collected in Lee county remains here locally to feed the hungry in our communities.
