God Bless George W. Bush
To the editor:
History will show that former President George W. Bush was treated unfairly. For seven years, he kept us safe and we enjoyed the greatest prosperity period the world has ever known.
President Bush conducted himself with dignity, determination and absolute conviction and -in the face of enormous negativity- he stayed true to his oath and always kept the safety of the American people first and foremost.
Factually, our problems began when the opposition party took control of the U.S. Congress, rendering the former president powerless.
Because Mr. Bush would not cater to the “pinheads” at NBC, CBS and many of the newspapers, stories were twisted and an unfair hatred was fueled against him…all of it unAmercian and untrue.
To his credit, the former president did not waver. He did what he knew he must -in spite of personal consequences, obstacles, dangers and pressures- all of which was his basis for true human morality. He had great courage and, without courage, all other virtues lose their meaning.
By honoring former President Bush, we are not knocking the present administration. This kind of sick thinking serves no constructive purpose and is only the by-product of the promotion of hate by those that could care less about truth, appreciation and the welfare of the American people.
The price of greatness has always been ‘responsibility’ and Martin Luther King, Jr. many have said it best when he proclaimed: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
It’s time to ignore the hate mongers, to turn our backs on jealous, disingenuous and irresponsible media…it’s time for us to display the appropriate amount of appreciation for former President George W. Bush.
