Vehicle strikes pedestrian on Fort Myers Beach

A woman was struck by an SUV while crossing the street late this morning at the intersection of Albatross Street and Estero Boulevard in the town of Fort Myers Beach.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman was thrown approximately 10 feet in the air after being struck by the red SUV. Firefighters and paramedics from the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District (FMBFCD) arrived on scene to find the female patient in the middle of Estero Boulevard. The patient was conscious and complained of hip, neck and back pain as a result of being struck by the vehicle.

FMBFCD ensured there were no further hazards and the vehicle was removed from the roadway. The driver of the Ford Expedition was not injured. The accident is under investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Traffic unit.
