2 min read

Fort Myers Beach Art Association and sponsor The Town of Fort Myers Beach are proudly inviting the public to view the art displayed at the gallery on Donora and Shellmound from April 17-April 29 .

Seniors majoring in art from Cypress Lake Center for the Arts and Cypress Lake High School and their instructors Ava Roeder, Tim Smith and Patricia Bonwell have prepared a focused display of their artwork in the main gallery.

From these displays and the biographies of the students recipients of the scholarship awards will be determined by members of the Art Association and will be presented on Sunday April 26 3 to 5 p.m. by chairman Patty Kane. Eligible students will be continuing their art education after graduation.

The Cypress Lake Middle School eighth grade portfolio class and their instructor Carolyn Gora have also been working on their pieces to display and will be awarded prizes at the reception.

Fort Myers Beach Elementary School students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade will have their work displayed in Studio 2 by Instructor Alyssa Davis.

This show is made possible by the dedication of both the art students and their teachers.

The Fort Myers Art Association is an all volunteer, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the study, practice and appreciation for art. Since the group was founded in 1952 they have strived to continue these goals with classes, shows, demonstrations and promotion of local artists. Each year money is raised to award the scholarships and provide the outlet for the artists of tomorrow. With the continued support of the community and the Town of Fort Myers Beach they will be able to do even more in the future.

The gallery is located at Donora and Shellmound, at the blinking light off Estero Blvd on Fort Myers Beach. April hours are Monday through Saturday 10-3 and Sunday 12-3. Phone 463-3909 with any questions or see our website at www.fortmyersbeachart.com.
