The Estero-San Carlos Park United Way House celebrated opening a new larger facility on Jan. 29th, 2009.

Interfaith Care Givers has partnered with the United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades to open a larger facility to serve the needs of individuals and families in the San Carlos Park and Estero area.

The House brings the services of many health and human service organizations to the new location at 17592 Rockefeller Circle in San Carlos Park.

The mission of Interfaith Caregivers of South Lee: People of faith are to feed the hungry, guide the young, visit the sick, and aid the needy. Estero-San Carlos Park United Way House partners include: Southwest Florida Addiction Services (SWFAS), Abuse Counseling and Treatment (ACT); Access Florida, Bonita Literacy Council; FGCU School of Nursing; and Estero Fire and Rescue CERT Call. Other services available at the United Way House include a food pantry, Meals on Wheels, and transportation for the elderly.

There are 12 United Way Houses and Neighborhood Resource Centers in Lee, Hendry and Glades Counties. The Centers provide space for agencies to reach clients who may not be able to access services outside their neighborhood.

Collaboration among agencies increases access to services and helps to improve neighborhoods. The vision is to help people in need with more than short term solutions to problems by offering coordinated services that can help prevent problems from recurring.

The United Way raises funds for human service organizations in our community and promotes partnerships and collaborations among agencies and initiatives, helping them to work together focusing on issues and solutions that continue to improve lives.

United Way also has a helpline, United Way 211, which refers those in need to agencies in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties. For more information please call United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades at (239) 433-2000 or visit www.unitedwaylee.org.
