Local church youth group challenges its’ pastor
The Chapel By The Sea youth group has collected enough money for church camp thus enticing its’ pastor to dress like an angel last Sunday, Feb. 8, according to Melody Fraser, the church’s director of Christian education.
The group comprised of middle school students raised $2,000 in fundraisers including bake sales, car washes and pasta dinners.
Fraser said Pastor Maynard Pittendreigh would agree to a dare if the middle schoolers met their goal. Pastor Pittendreigh was uninformed what the dare might be.
“The pastor will wear angel wings and a halo while holding a sign that reads ‘I’m proud to be a Jesus freak’ on the back of a motorcycle,” she said before the event. “(The collected funds) will send a group of 20 to church camp.”
