Ken Medema in Concert
Ken Medema, blind pianist and vocalist, will bring his unique inspirational music to Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor Blvd. at 7 p.m. on
Saturday, Feb. 7.
Medema, who has been blind since birth, is a composer, arranger and recording artist who uses visual imagery to create his unusual lyrics and music. His performances often contain interaction with people in the audience to make them think, laugh or even cry. He typically calls for three notes from the audience; then weaves these notes into an instant song.
Medema began banging on a piano at age five and started Braille music lessons at eight. After studying music therapy at Michigan State University, he used music to help rehabilitate those with physical and mental disabilities. In his music, he challenges people to get out of their comfort zones and minister to the disabled. He challenges Christians to be authentic and truthful — the light of the world.
Medema performs about 200 concerts per year at events sponsored by
churches, charities, high schools, universities, conventions and corporations.
Tickets for the Feb. 7 concert can be purchased at Peace Lutheran Church or call (239) 437-2599. Festival seating tickets are $15 for festival seating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is limited.
