Going to the Dawgs pet party at Nauti Turtle Saturday
All for the love of the animals, the Nauti Turtle, 19001 San Carlos Blvd., is hosting a Going to the Dawgs pet party Saturday, Aug. 24, from noon to 4 p.m., raising funds for the local Find a Home, Give a Home pet rescue foundation.
During the four-hour pet celebration, the establishment will be offering all types of fun games, prizes and contests for pets and their human companions.
“I love anything that has to do with helping our local charities, and this fund-raiser is going to be so fun,”?said Kimber Phillips, Nauti Turtle bar manager and coordinator of the event. “We will have Find a Home, Give a Home on-site with pet adoptions, as well as lots of fun raffles, prizes, 50/50s and a pet contest.”
That’s right; be sure to bring your best pet (or pets) to the party, as the big spectacle of the day will be a Going to the Dawgs pet contest, where pets and their human companions compete for top prize.
“Sandy, from Dog n’ Suds, and Mike, a canine obedience trainer, will be the judges of the contest, and contestants will be awarded for such titles as ‘Most Impressive Trick,’ ‘Looks Like Their Owner,’ ‘Best of Show,’ ‘Best Outfit’ and even a picture contest of your pet,” Kimber said.
Of course, after the contest, the event coordinator was sure to point out all photos will be returned to their owners. Prizes, plaques, trophies and ribbons will be awarded to the top-placing winners in each category, and the cost to compete is $25, all of which goes directly to the Find a Home, Give a Home pet rescue foundation.
Also during the fund-raiser, enjoy happy hour (1 to 7 p.m.), featuring a $5 appetizer menu, $3.25 wells, $1.75 domestic drafts and $2.50 domestic bottles.
The Oysters will be rocking the stage from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by a live DJ, from 7 to 11 p.m.

“We’ll have all types of great prizes to give away during the raffles and 50/50s, and hopefully lots of pets will find new homes that day, too with all the money going directly to the local foundation,” Kimber said. “That’s what it’s all about: helping anyone we can locally.”
“We are so thankful the?Nauti Turtle held not only one fund-raiser for us but two!” said Isabelle Wells, co-founder of the Find a Home, Give a Home foundation, along with Pam Schwartz. “Thank you to all of their clients for their wonderful donations, and thank you to all who can join us Saturday during the pet party. We will have lots of great pets available for adoption, and anything we can raise will get us get through the summer months.”

About the Find a Home,
Give a Home foundation
The Find a Home, Give a Home pet rescue foundation was founded by two island Realtors who were tired of seeing homeless pets roam the beach unloved. They started the group to help find homes to otherwise homeless pets.
Since founding the group a couple years ago, these two Realtors and their many volunteers, along with the several businesses who assist in any way they can, have found homes for hundreds of animals.
The foundation is a 501-c3 non-profit group, and all donations made to the cause stays right here on Fort Myers Beach.

Also, every week, the local organization runs a Pet Pals column, found on page 14 of this issue. Look there for available pets for adoption, tips and tricks for owners, and additional pieces of helpful insight.
