An event that’s taken place annually for 40 years is worth a celebration which is what the 2013 Everglades Seafood Festival will be on February 8/9/10. It promises to have the best entertainers and most delicious food ever.

There’s something for everyone in the family – carnival rides for the kiddies, arts & crafts booths for shoppers of all ages, great music, and a vast array of edibles from stone crab claws to ice cream.

Friday night is Family Night when local groups, including the Gladezmen, perform. On Saturday, Mayor Sammy Hamilton will open proceedings officially at 10 a.m. when he welcomes everyone and introduces dignitaries. Headline performers, including Nashville artist Jason Thomas, will keep the big stage hopping all day and into the evening. The festival opens Sunday at 11 a.m. and closes after Nashville artist Jerrod Niemann takes the stage at 5 p.m.

The whole event benefits this historic rural community. The Festival was started all those years ago to buy playground equipment for the city park and is now run by the Betterment Association of the Everglades Area, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
