The Cincy firemen are shakin’ things up a bit on the beach, moving their eye-gazing performances to the Lani Kai, starting their next trip down March 6 to 20, 2010, with funds raised going to charity.

“I think it’s going to be great for both of us (firemen and the Lani Kai). We’re going to have more people to perform for and they’re going to get the benefits of the charity,” said Angelo Scarlato, lead coordinator of the annual 40-plus firefighter trip down south. “Mr. C (Bob Conidaris, owner of the Lani Kai) and Kenny C. (Ken Conidaris, operator of the resort) have treated us really well and have welcomed us with open arms.”

Ken said, although it’s still too early to tell many plans, the Cincy Firemen will probably be set up in the Beach One area, by the pool.

“We’re happy to have them,” he said. “It’s going to be another benefit to the hotel, having more here. It’s going to be a learning experience for both sides. We’ve always been close with them and glad to have them here.”

Since the shows can be on the beach, there is no restriction on age, and there will be no charge either, so come one, come all!

Angelo also said the crew will have their annual T-shirts up for grabs again, with the proceeds going to the Lani Kai’s choice charity.

Have no fear if you’re missing the guys’ parties at the beach house on Avenue C. The Cincy Firemen crew, who, according to Angelo’s records, pour in about $25,000 per year to our local Fort Myers Beach economy in housing alone, along with about another $40,000 on food and entertainment while staying on the island, will continue to have fun at their party house.

“We’re still going to party on the beach at the cottages, but the shows themselves are moving to the Lani Kai,” he said.

Expect to get shows the first week they’re down every weekday, right into the second week’s Wednesday. They may also perform on weekends, but it’s still too early to tell.

“DJs will work with their shows, too, having raffles, games, things like that. We’re just going to wing it and learn as we’re going,” Ken said enthusiastically.
