Kid’s Day on the Bay Saturday
Beginning an annual tradition of years to come, the folks at Parrot Key (2500 Main St.) are holding their second annual Kid’s Day on the Bay fund-raising event this weekend, Saturday, May 23, taking place from noon to 4 p.m.
During the four hours of fund-raising festivities, TammySue Hrad, office manager of the establishment, said there will be plenty of fun for all from face-painting and T-shirt designing to kid’s fishing tournaments and water slides.
“It’s going to be a lot like what we had last year, with the Coast Guard, the fire department and police department there, along with face-painting, a make-your-own T-shirt station, Segways, water slides, fire truck, ambulance, kid’s fishing tournament, carnival games and soooo much more.”
TammySue said plenty of special guests and live music will entertain the crowd during the day, too, from such local greats as Catalyst and Frank Torino (of course), and plenty more.
Admission to the party is just $1 or a school supply, whether it be a glue stick, pack of pencils, erasers, pair of scissors, you name it, since this benefit is all about the kids.
“Whatever we raise is going to three local schools to raise money for the the kids, so they’ll have extra money to do things for the kids, like field trips and such,” TammySue said. “This is kind of our baby, just staring it last year, so we’re excited that we’ll be able to raise more money this year. We just hope it will be an awesome success.”
