Lovers Key State Park has reopened to the public following recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

The beach, kayak launch, boat launch, Bayside and Welcome and Discovery Center have reopened. The Welcome and Discovery Center is open with limited hours from Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The rest of the park is open from 8 a.m. to sundown at 8700 Estero Blvd. The cost to enter is $8 per vehicle.

Hiiking trails remain closed at the park and park staff warn the public to be mindful of potential debris that may continue to wash up on the shore. Park staff encourages visitors to wear appropriate footwear for their safety.

The boat ramp area at Lovers Key State Park has limited parking available. Lovers Key State Park is still recovering from damage from hurricanes so staff urges the public to follow instructions from park staff, adhere to all posted signage and avoid closed areas.

Nikki Clifton, Deputy Press Secretary for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, said “Lovers Key State Park sustained significant impacts from Hurricane Milton. Several structures were destroyed by storm surge, including the beach restrooms and the beach access boardwalk. Temporary restrooms and a temporary beach access point are now in place, and debris on the beach has been cleared.”

Restoration efforts are underway to reopen the remaining amenities as quickly as possible, Clifton said.
