Hurricane Helene left Fort Myers Beach roads flooding on Sept. 26 – two days to the second Anniversary of Hurricane Ian. Just as residents were wrapping up repairs and feeling like the hurricane season was over, a gut punch followed two weeks later on Oct. 9 when Hurricane Milton brought three to four feet of water into people’s homes and flooded streets and businesses with storm surge estimated as much as six feet high. The one-two punch left Fort Myers Beach residents reeling and asking questions about how much more they could take and what kind of help was in the offering for a town that had already been struggling with flooding to its streets from normal rainstorms.

Here is a look at the images from the aftermath of Hurricane Milton as the storm impacted Fort Myers Beach.
