National Night Out at Hammond Stadium Tuesday

Free games and hot dogs for children at Fort Myers event announced by Lee County Sheriff's Office

National Night Out will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers with a night of free hot dogs, games, aviation and police demonstrations as part of an event announced by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature games including bounce houses and giveaways to go along with free hot dogs, chips and refreshments.

The South Trail Fire Department will provide a fire truck splash zone for children.

Dick’s Sporting Goods will be providing cornhole and yard games.

There will be aviation demonstrations, and police demonstrations of K-9 units and drones.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels will be hosting the Dunedin Blue Jays afterwards in a Class-A Minor League Baseball matchup.

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, will be providing free tickets to children ages 14 and under to the game. The game begins at 7 p.m. and is part of the team’s Tuesday two-for-one promotion of food and beverages.
