Busy summer at Lani Kai
Angela Hicks returns for Jazz Nights
At the Lani Kai Island Resort, entertainment is a key component of its longstanding success. There is usually some type of musical performance going on most nights.
Jazz singer Angela Hicks will be returning to the resort’s rooftop Island View to perform every Tuesday and Thursday evening as part of the resort’s “Jazz Nights.” Hicks cites Peggy Lee, Aretha Franklin, Diana Krall and Carmen McRae as influences.
Hicks was out of the country for about six weeks, said Lani Kai Island Resort Marketing Director Melissa Schneider. “We’re happy that she’s back performing on our Island View stage,” Schneider said.
Also in the Island View, singer Michael D’Amoré of The Capris will return Wednesdays, July 14 and July 28, also from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday also marks Dine on a Dime Night, where all Island View diners can enjoy 10% off their entrees that evening, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (dine-in only). Schneider highly recommends folks make reservations ahead of time, as well as for daily happy hour between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
“Seats fill up very quickly,” Schneider said. Those looking to reserve a table for dining or for enjoying the entertainment can call 239-463-5550 or RSVP online at IslandViewFMB.com/RSVP.
The resort is also featuring live acoustic musical performances daily from the rooftop Sun Deck, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as a return of live bands every night in Club Ohana (on the ground level) from 8 p.m. to midnight (21 and over after 9 p.m.).
Among the big shows on the way are Radio Ghost Thursday and Saturday nights.
The FLORA Top Hits band has been “building up a great following,” Schneider said. Their next Club Ohana show is Friday, July 9. “We even started booking a musician who starred on a hit TV show: Nathan Tata, of The Voice. His next performance with us is Monday, July 12, in Club Ohana,” Schneider said.
Schneider said that another popular night that has been growing in popularity is karaoke night with Brenda in Club Ohana, held every Sunday evening, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
