Mermaid Fest at Lovers Key event field this weekend

Another edition of the Mermaid Fest, featuring artists, wellness groups and local nonprofits, will take place this weekend at Lovers Key State Park event field.

Glass blowers, potters, jewelers, fiber artists, photographers, lamp makers and other mediums will be on display, many with a nature inspired theme. Nationally acclaimed, award-winning artists and local crafters will display, sell, engage and educate patrons from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Woodworker Isaac Brooks will have a new array of hand carved fish, birds and other marine life.

Thee will be original cypress sculptures made from reclaimed Florida cypress. Each piece is hand carved as well as hand stained and finished with a two part epoxy making them safe indoors or outdoors.

Mixed media artist Michelle Cheng will present ceramic painted images of birds, turtles, fish and other nature scenes.

Schedule of events includes:

Friday

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily nature inspired mermaid marketplace art and craft show

10 a.m. free yoga with Fort Myers Beach Wellness

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily Turtle Time – educational information on sea turtle conservation

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mermaid Marketplace – nature inspired art and craft show

3 p.m to 5 p.m. Ranger Bob will talk about manatees and clean water initiatives

Saturday:

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily nature inspired mermaid marketplace art and craft show

10 a.m. free yoga with Fort Myers Beach Wellness

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily Turtle Time – educational information on sea turtle conservation

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. master gardners will educate and answer all questions on local plant species

3 p.m. Mermaid Contest for cash prizes. Best mermaid, merman and merkid awards.

3 p.m. to 5 p.m Audubon Society

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Ranger Rob, Florida Master Naturalist, Calusa Waterkeeper – manatee protection and clean water. Fun facts and educational modules for kids and adults

Sunday:

10-5 pm daily nature inspired mermaid marketplace

10 a.m. yoga with FMB Wellness

Reef safe sunscreen samples

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Turtle Time – educational information on Sea Turtle Conservation

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. master gardeners to educate and answer all questions on local plants

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Audubon Society

3-5pm Ranger Rob, Florida Master Naturalist, Calusa Waterkeeper – manatee protection and clean water. Fun facts and educational modules for kids and adults

Hand sanitizing stations, social distancing and directional flow are utilized. Come for the art, stay for the beach!
