Fort Myers Beach offering memorial benches
Benches can be purchased in memoriam of loved ones
The town of Fort Myers Beach is offering residents the opportunity to name a bench after a loved one with a donation to the town. The names of the deceased and a special saying can be put on a stationary bench in a public area of Town.
Spots are available at Bay Oaks Recreational Campus and the Fort Myers Beach Community Pool. A few spots are available on Old San Carlos Boulevard.
The cost of the bench is $564 and includes installation. The inscription cost must also be paid at $4 per letter. Town staff secure a location, order, and install after receiving the application and payment. Applications can be found on the Town’s website: https://www.fortmyersbeachfl.gov/1098/Memorial-Bench-Program. Completed applications can be returned by email or by calling Town Hall at 239-765-0202 to schedule an appointment for drop off. The Town Hall is closed to the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The town has the right of final decision of location. The Town does not have a responsibility to replace a bench if it is damaged or worn.
Questions can be addressed to the Public Works Department at 239-765-0202, ext. 1700, or RandyP@fmbgov.com.
