By Staff | Feb 25, 2021

Arts, crafts and jewelry fans will have a lot to see this weekend as Lovers Key State Park hosts The Invitational at Lovers Key fine art show at its event field.

The show will feature metal and wood sculptors, glass blowers, painters, fine jewelers, functional art and wearable fiber art. Presented by Blue Ribbon Events, The Invitational will expose patrons of the arts to unique art, said Blue Ribbon Events LLC CEO Danielle Lynch.

“Come out to support artisans and find the perfect gift for that special someone, new home treasure or whimsical addition to your art collection. These new style boutique events cater to the artists, makers and creators, so if you are a supporter of the arts, join us,” Lynch stated.

Among those at the show will be wood sculptor Isaac Brooks. Brooks sculpts fish, birds, gators and other wildlife into three-dimensional masterpieces. Sculptures of grouper, mahi, flamingos, and toucans can be found in his booth. Original cypress sculptures are made from reclaimed Florida cypress. Each piece is hand carved, hand stained and finished off with a two part epoxy resin. Each piece Brooks creates is meant to represent Florida’s aquatic life.

Jane Rubrecht, a master naturalist, active photographer and retired teacher, will be showing photographs as part of her environmental focus.

The Lovers Key State Park Event Field will host The Invitational at Lovers Key Saturday and Sunday.

“As a master naturalist, my dream is to get people to respect and be moved to action by my work. To join with others and get involved in saving the Ecosystems and wildlife that surround us before it is too late,” Rubrecht stated. Her work is a curated collection of photographic fine art presented on wrap canvas, aluminum panels, framed canvas board and matted work of wildlife, landscapes, flowers and abstracts.

Potters, jewelers, fiber artists, photographers, lamp makers will be among those in attendance this weekend. Acclaimed, award-winning artists will display, sell, engage and educate patrons from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Chesapeake Bay Seafood chef Charles Maslin from Laughing Crab will be dishing up his award-winning crab cakes and seafood platters all weekend long.

Blue Ribbon Events will be running the event with social distancing policies and procedures in place for the safety of patrons and artists. There will be hand sanitizing stations at the site, Lynch stated.
