Edward Bertholet, the love of my life, passed away the morning of January 19, 2021.
I was fortunate to spend over 20 years with this exceptional, warm, loving man that always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He was amazing! Ed grew up in South NJ, entered the Marines during the Korean War, then attended Valparaiso University earning a Business degree where he started an Insurance and Bail bond company until he retired to Fort Myers Beach in 1996.
Ed was an active member of the Shrine along with the American Legion, the Moose and VFW. He proudly marched in the parades for the VFW showing his honor and love for the Marines and Military. We spent happy times there, dancing and socializing with our many friends. Ed loved to celebrate his life and shared his happiness with hosting large parties for many years. We were the talk of the town.
Sadly, changes in Ed’s health had required me to seek assistance. Ed’s family all lived in Indiana. Luckily, I had my Granddaughter Jeanne Sander and Daughter Kim Kenton living close by, they gladly helped with love and compassion.
It became evident we would require 24-hour care. I was blessed to find three lovely ladies, Cathy Czoschke, Terri Smith, and Melody Sexton. Their care and selflessness were above and beyond. Ed would always say how lucky he was to be at home with such great caregivers and me by his side.
Ed Rest peacefully my luv, you are forever in my heart, until we meet again. Luv always Jeanne
