Support for Atterholt
To the editor:
I own a place on Fort Myers Beach and love coming to the island whenever I get a break from work. I have had the opportunity to work directly with Jim Atterholt who is running for Fort Myers Beach Town Council. At the time, I was vice president of external affairs for a large not-for-profit electricity transmission organization that is headquartered in Indiana. Jim was the chairman of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission which regulates most of the electric, gas and water companies in Indiana. Jim was widely respected as a regulator and public servant.
I believe he will offer the qualities of fairness and common sense to the Fort Myers Beach Town Council. During Jim’s tenure as chair, he was supportive of all types of energy generation but was particularly sensitive to the environment by encouraging wind and solar power through an innovative expansion of the net metering policy. His experience with regulating water and sewer companies will be helpful as we continue to address the water quality issues that impact our island. Jim is someone with a strong personal faith who exhibits integrity and fairness when working with a wide variety of stakeholder groups.
Jim was the person who encouraged me to first visit and then later invest in a place on the island. He will be a servant leader who will work hard for the people of Fort Myers Beach.
