Town seeks volunteers for committees

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is requesting volunteers to fill vacancies on advisory committees and boards. Members advise the Town Council on matters of interest to the community and which may come before the Council for action.

– The Anchorage Advisory Committee meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. This committee, which advises Town Council and Town staff on the operations of the Matanzas Harbor Mooring Fields, currently has one vacancy.

– The Community Resource Advisory Board meets the first Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. This committee, which seeks to enhance the quality of life on Fort Myers Beach by creating a vision for the community, currently has one vacancy.

– The objectives of the Local Planning Agency are to further the welfare of the citizens of town by helping to promote a better, more positive community environment and to ensure that the unique, natural characteristics of the island are preserved. The LPA, which also serves as the Town’s Historic Preservation Board, currently has one vacancy.

– The Marine Resources Task Force meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. This committee, which exists to promote stewardship of our marine resources, currently has one vacancy.

Members of the Town advisory committees and boards must be residents or real property owners within the jurisdiction of the Town of Fort Myers Beach. Please send a letter of interest with contact information and a brief outline of qualifications to the Town Council, in care of the Town Clerk. Letters of interest for these positions will be accepted until noon Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Appointments may be made at the May 2, 2011 Town Council meeting.
